ParrotDog announces equity crowdfunding campaign at ‘press conference’

In reality, the “press conference” is a very funny and completely ridiculous teaser clip by Curious Film to announce the impending launch of its equity crowdfunding campaign.

According to the clip, which is in keeping with its “fun and random” approach to communications, ParrotDog intends to use the money to expand its brewery, as evidenced by the elaborate cardboard “artist’s impression”.

ParrotDog has spread news of its upcoming PledgeMe campaign on social media as well as its website, and it says to stay tuned for Thursday where more information will be released about the new brewery and its location.

According to SOBA Wellington brewers have had success with equity crowdfunding in the past, with the Yeastie Boys raising $503,519 in a little over an hour early last year.

The brewery started off when Matt Kristofski and Matt Warner concocted a brew in the bathroom of their Aro Valley flat. The brewery got its name because there was a parrot, Schmee, living in the flat at the time and the pair called each other dog (according to Stuff, it was supposed to be a temporary name but it stuck).

ParrotDog is no stranger to kookiness and has previously created some weird ads brandishing its slogan, ‘nice’.

The brewery released its first commercial beer in 2011 (after the addition of Matt Stevens). The ‘Slide’ ad and the crowdfunding ad were made by Matt’s brother Sam Kristofski
