Air Caire
By Gena Tuffery,
Many a New Zealand skincare line leaves home these days, but most don’t come back on the next flight. Caire inflight skincare does, flying business class all the way.
It’s fitting then, that a New Zealander-from-Britain-impersonating-an-American co-developed this jet-setting brand. Dave Vousden, better known as the ‘Dave’ of Wendy’s burger ads, started stocking Qantas bathrooms with Caire Facial Mist in 1999.
Vousden—a pharmacist as well as a burger hawker—has since sold out to his partner, Grant Bittle. Bittle claims this facial mist is still the only one in the world that can be sprayed into the eyes, nose and mouth. But he ups that claim considerably when he says the Caire range, which now includes everything from lip moisturiser to breath freshener, is the only dedicated inflight skincare line in the world. That dedication is to fighting jet lag, dehydration and discomfort with Caire’s ‘as natural as possible’ ethos—delivered in exclusive air-pressured packaging.
Bittle has just returned from the Cologne ITCA trade fair, where he launched Caire’s new Green Tea range. As a result of his trip he expects to have another ten airlines stocking the new range over the next two years—in addition to the eight airlines that already carry the original line.
Nothing but blue skies indeed.
