New Zealand timber framed building techniques have remained relatively unchanged since we first began building here.
While many other building systems exist and some of those are extremely effective, timber frame will continue to be the predominant construction method for the foreseeable future primarily due to the economics, the existing skill base for the construction industry and the relatively low environmental impact by comparison with other building systems.
Recognising this I have set about developing new ways of using the same materials and the same construction techniques to build homes that have vastly superior thermal characteristics and much greater control of internal moisture levels to give a significantly higher standard of internal living environment.
And all this can be done without having to cost any more than the typical New Zealand standard of home that gives us the highest rates of asthma in the developed world.
