Farewell Natcoll, hello YOOBEE. From now on the design technology institute will be known as YOOBEE School of Design, in line with its sister business units.
Natcoll was founded in 1997 and went on to build a reputation as a provider of specialist creative digital design training courses. With campuses in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, the college offers NZQA-approved and vocationally-based diploma courses in multimedia, computer graphic design, web development, animation and filmmaking.
Renaissance, which owns the YOOBEE brand, bought Natcoll back in 2007. YOOBEE was recently granted accreditation as a registered training organisation in New South Wales, paving the way for the future opening of its first offshore campus in Sydney.
And to celebrate its new identity, YOOBEE School of Design is running a nationwide ‘Create a Toy Character’ competition until October 21, with iPads, tickets to We Can Create, and YOOBEE short courses up for the taking.
All you have to do (as the name suggests) is come up with a creature – which can be drawn with a pencil, pen, crayons or computer – accompanied by a short story about what it does, where it lives and how it amuses itself – all in all, fertile ground for someone with imagination.
